For Brechtje Olsthoorn designing was in her blood with a childhood surrounded by a creative family and watching her parents design and build the Dutch Children's Brand, Oilily. Used to seeing fabrics, colours and motifs all around me, Brechtie naturally took the same path as her parents playing with fabrics, shapes, flowers and colours, starting Room Seven in 1994.
Originally designing a bedding and accessories collection, she moved on to clothing collections after having children of her own to model them on. In 2009 Room Seven became the licensee for her parents’ company Oilily, so she now heads up the designing for both.
