Sandra has combined her love of ‘Art and People’ creating unique contemporary portraits. These are individually commissioned, based on digital photographs taken by the artist. Capturing likeness and a sense of life is vital in this work. Sandra’s fascination with the human head has led her to painting in a large scale as well as enforcing the particular way in which she zooms into the subject.
Born in Rio de Janeiro where her passion for painting manifested itself from an early age. Sensuality and manipulation of paint drives her work.Seeking to impose her identity as a painter she has developed a diverse practice incorporating both portraiture and abstract work. There is a constant dialogue and tension between abstraction and realism in the paintings and the merging of the two is very exciting.
